The Reentry Network for Returning Citizens is hosting another community forum! After the incredibly encouraging results from our first Ward 7 forum, we couldn’t wait to schedule one in Ward 8!

Ward 7 Commuity Forum A Huge Success!!
This past Saturday, Oct 29th, we had a very successful forum in Ward 7! We had a packed house and late-comers had to search the library for extra chairs to sit on! Folks from all over Ward 7 and other parts of DC attended and participated. We even had a reentry professional from Michigan join us and give us valuable input! After initial introductions and ice-breakers, we got down to business. Every single person there participated. We especially appreciated the contributions from the Ward 7 reentrants who discussed issues and barriers they are facing. They were given awesome, practical feedback on such issues as what companies will give a reentrant who has a CDL license an opportunity and how to set up as a vendor in DC with the new laws being taken into account. Thank you to all who attended and we hope to see everybody at the next forum!
Voter Registration!!
The Reentry Network for Returning Citizens is at it again! This time Ward 8 had the pleasure of our company as we continued our Voter Registration Drive! Yes, it was Halloween and we were giving out treats: Community Empowerment and the right to be heard via the vote! DC: Be change agents and come out and join us. We are having a blast in the community! We also were in Ward 7 yesterday getting surveys to residents there that dealt with how they believe we can best serve them and what changes will be most effective!

Voter Registration Continues! (Ward 7)
We Had a great time on Fri, 9/30/11 in Ward 7 Washington DC! We set up outside of the Department of Employment Services and registered over 50 ward 7 residents to vote!! Let’s keep up the good work!!

Here’s the latest from the Walmart: Respect DC! Campaign
The next meeting will be this coming Thursday, September 22, at 4pm at the Watha T Daniel/Shaw Library, 1630 7th St NW, across the street from the Shaw/Howard Metro. The meeting room is in the basement of the library. Please let me know if you will be able to attend.
We will be finalizing the details for a lobby day in early October, as well as talking about details for an exciting week of action to support OUR Walmart next week. Hope to see you there!
OUR Walmart will also be at the DC Central Labor Council meeting TONIGHT, Monday, September 19, at 6:30pm at the AFL-CIO, 815 16th St NW. You are all welcome to attend if you’d like to hear more about their campaign.

We are continuing our Voter Registration Drive!!! We are staying in ward 7! When? Saturday, August 20, 2011. Join us at the Benning Road metro station at Benning Rd. and East Capitol NE. We’ll be there from 9am-noon. Let’s get DC residents registered and voting!
