Candidates Forum!!!

The Reentry Network for Returning Citizens is hosting a candidates forum for the hotly contested Ward 7!!! When:  Saturday march 17, 2012 from 1:30pm-4:30pm.  Where: Dorothy Height (Benning Road) Library 3935 Benning Road NE. Washington DC. The Board of Ethics will be there with a table to answer questions about felons voting and many more! Join us and contribute with your questions and ideas!

The Reentry Network for Returning Citizens will host a Community Forum in Ward 5 on February 18, 2012 at the Lamond-Riggs Library 5401 South Dakota Ave NE WDC 20011, 11am-1pm. Be there or be square!

Upcoming Events 2012!

On Monday, January 16,2012 The RNRC will proudly take part in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day Parade. Join us! Then on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 The RNRC is hosting a Community Focus Group at Covenant Baptist Church 3845 S. Capitol St. SE Wash DC. The time for that is 6-8pm. The excitement continues on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the RNRC Fundraiser! It will be held at Ras Hall restaurant and Lounge 4809 Georgia Ave. NW Wash DC 20010! Put these dates on your calendar, can’t wait to see you! We will also be hosting a Candidates Forum for the Ward 7 Council candidates. More on that forthcoming!

The RNRC at Occupy DC!

The RNRC paid a visit to the Occupy DC folks on Sunday! We brought them water and snacks and had a great meeting with them. Let's keep up the good fight!

We had a very nice turnout at our monthly meeting last night. We met for 2 hours and much was shared! Among topics discussed were our community forums, our volunteer opportunities, and our new pilot program that everyone is very excited about! Stay tuned! The RNRC is moving forward and we can’t be stopped!

Council Hearing on Reentry

Today, the Reentry Network for Returning Citizens took part in the Judiciary Committee’s Hearing on Re-entry Programs and Services for the District’s Returning Citizens, Chaired by Councilmember Mendelsohn. We were very excited for the opportunity to testify before the DC Council and we took full advantage of that opportunity as a number of us testified!!! Also, yesterday, we were invited to The Council for Court Excellence’s presentation of their findings in their report on Unlocking Employment Opportunity for Previously Incarcerated Persons in DC. Our own James LeBlanc was one of the speakers and he was joined there by our Chairman Courtney Stewart and other members of the RNRC. Lets keep up the good work!!!
